Is Aaron Brewer the worst player in the NFL

Those selecting to play as the Denver Broncos will almost certainly be doing so to play as Peyton Manning. Though that may soon change sadly, perhaps, for Brewer. He is the lowest rated player in all of "Madden 25" (last out of about 2,300 players) and thus now widely regarded as The Worst Player in the NFL.

Sure, it's just a video game that's issuing this determination. But as the only mass consumed list where players are quantifiably rated (and rankings are obsessed over), the "Madden 25" results carry surprising weight. Madden's so called "Ratings Czar" Donny Moore says players complain to him all the time about their ratings.

Brewer's overall rating is 39. For reference, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is tops in the game with a 99. Most players fall somewhere in the mid 60s to mid 80s range. So yeah, that 39 stings.

While officially listed as a tight end, Brewer's main role on the team is to play a position most casual football fans have never even heard of: long snapper. This is not a turtle reference. Although the position one must assume to be a long snapper is rather turtle like. Long snappers are generally NFL afterthoughts, which probably has a lot to do NFL Jerseys 2014 with that 39 and Brewer's unenviable new status.

Of course, declaring someone the "worst player in the cheap nfl jerseys NFL" is like calling someone the dumbest person at a cocktail party for Nobel Prize cheap jerseys winners. This is an almost impossibly elite group in which to even be included. Of the nation's 1.1 million high school football players, about 1,700 will make it to the pros. That's 0.15%.

With the NFL's annual "cutdown week" now upon us, talented athletes are being tossed aside left and right as teams slash their active roster down to the league mandated 53 players. Merely surviving this crucible should be applauded. I mean, have you seen "Hard Knocks?" This stuff ain't easy.

Brewer would know: He overcame serious odds to make the Broncos last year as an undrafted free agent. UFAs are the ultimate underclass of NFL wannabes. If the league was an old cruise ship, they would be in steerage, bunking six to a room, below deck, battling nausea and rodents, just waiting for the rocky ride to be over.

He came all that way just to land a 39 in Madden?

Looking closer at the ratings: Brewer received a measly 53 for Catching and a relatively very low 69 for Toughness.

Really? For a guy who slams his body against oncoming 6'3", 250 Nike NFL Jerseys Cheap pound men for a living? Wonder what the Toughness rating is for the guy who figures out Toughness ratings?

Regardless, Brewer will be the one slipping on that 46 jersey even if the number he's more Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys closely associated with this season turns out to be "39."

McEwen and Garfoot win in Noosa

McEwen, 41, has lost count of the number of times he has won the event.

Left in his wake this time was Slovakian sensation Peter Sagan, the winner of the last two green jerseys at the Tour de France.

McEwen is himself a three time winner of the Tour de France's sprinters' crown, and he showed there was still plenty of speed in his ageing legs on Saturday, pipping protege Howard on the line.

Fellow Australian Jonathan Cantwell was third, with Sagan finishing back in the pack, although the Slovakian still found time to entertain the large crowd with one of Saints Brandin Cooks Jersey his trademark post race wheelies.

"I am retired and I am going to go back into retirement again tomorrow," said McEwen, who officially quit the sport last year.

"But I can't promise I won't pop out of it for another day again next year."

McEwen had several turns at the front of the field throughout the race, before finding himself in the perfect position to launch one final attack.

"When they pulled back in that last breakaway it gave me just enough time to recover and find the legs again," he said.

"Not much happened after that, it was under control, which gave me a chance to find the legs again and think about the sprint and get myself into position. • mayor likens it to Kuwait invasion

TORONTO City councillors voted overwhelmingly to strip Rob Ford of more of his mayoral powers Monday a move a fuming Ford likened to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and a declaration of war.

In the wake of an ever evolving crack cocaine scandal, councillors voted to strip Ford of much of his remaining powers, slash his office budget and cut his staff.

"Well, folksyou guys have just attacked Kuwait."

"Mark my words, friends. This is going to be outright war in the next election."

His brother, Coun. Doug Ford, said it was a personal attack on the mayor by city councillors.

"If they had a choice to do this to Rob Ford, they would've done it the day after they were elected because they don't like Rob Ford."

Ford called it a sad day for the country.

"He did run through me and over me and I got knocked off my feet," she said.

The incident prompted yet another apology from Ford, who at one point was seen making drinking and driving gestures directed at a councillor police had warned about impaired driving.

    Council transfers powers to Kelly

Monday's vote hands many of Ford's duties to Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly.

Kelly will replace Ford as the head of the executive committee, manage the mayor's office staff that no longer work for Ford and oversee about 60 per cent of the mayor's office budget.

Ford will be left with about eight staffers.

"The mayor apparently wants to wage war and I would rather wage peace," Kelly said after the vote.

"First, to restore the confidence of the public and the government in Toronto, secondly, to repair the damage done to the relationships between members of the council and finally, to focus on the business of the city."

Council had already passed a pair of motions on Friday stripping Ford of his ability to appoint key committee chairs or to exercise emergency powers.

"Adam Lallana has been in excellent form. Rickie Lambert is improving all the time and Jay Rodriguez has been a thorn in the side of many defenders this season."

Lambert already has three caps and two goals for his country, while Lallana and Rodriguez are yet to make their debuts.

And with Lambert having every chance of going to next year World Cup, Le Tissier feels Lallana could also force his way into the squad for Brazil.

"Adam is one of those players who can unlock a tight defence," he said.

"He is different to most other players in the squad and may be the one who is a dark horse to make the squad for Brazil."

"There is Lallana, Lambert, Rodriguez and there is a Nathaniel Clyne, who is always in our thoughts. There is James Ward Prowse and Luke Shaw in the Under 21s.

"Southampton at the moment are becoming a very good club as far as England are concerned in terms of providing players."

And Hodgson added he felt the upcoming friendlies provided the ideal opportunity for him to give Rodriguez and Lallana their chance.

"We like what we see there and this was a great opportunity," he said. "I didn necessarily want to make too many changes before the important last four qualifiers.

"I had a squad of players who had been there and been with us all along. It would have been, I think, the wrong time to introduce them then.

"But it seems to me now is the right time to introduce them and I hope they will be happy to be selected. If they get a chance to show what they can do, I know they won let their country down."

opens up passing gamefor Marty Mornhinweg and Geno Smith

Ron Antonelli/Getty Images Bilal Powell punishes the Buffalo defense for 149 yards in Sunday's win.

Related Stories 2013 Scouting the NY Jets: Playoffs a pipe dream for Rex Ryan and Gang Green With Chris Ivory injured, Bilal Powell will continue to run for NY Jets NY Jets may keep Dee Milliner on bench after game vs. Patriots NY Jets running back Chris Ivory shows some quickness in first practices

Geno Smith and Gang Green's passing attack were so impressive against the Bills, it practically went unnoticed that the Jets ran the ball so well and often.

Marty Mornhinweg's offense featured 41 runs and 29 passes en route to a 513 total yard performance in the Jets' 27 20 win.

The Jets were particularly impressive when Bilal Powell had the ball. Most imagine Chris Ivory as the bulldozer back for the Jets, but Powell looked every bit as capable of barreling defenders over in his 149 yard performance on 27 carries.

"He is a physical runner," Rex Ryan said. "He might not be the fastest, he might not be the biggest or whatever, but he is just a good back. He runs hard. Powell's 114 yards after contact this season tie him with Seattle's Marshawn Lynch for ninth in the league.

"Honestly, hats off to the running backs," said right tackle Austin Howard. "They really make our job easy. I know Bilal had a lot of yards after contact.

Muhammad Wilkerson sacks EJ Manuel twice in Sunday's win over the Bills.

"It's just a matter of moving their feet and refusing to go down. That type of attitude, it really makes your job easy, helps us out a lot as an offensive line."

Ivory suffered a hamstring injury against the Bills, so Powell could be the main guy for a while. According to Ryan, Ivory injured the same left hamstring he hurt in training camp, but in a different spot. Should Ivory, who was signed by the Jets in the offseason, miss Sunday's game in Tennessee, Alex Green would fill in.

Smith, who completed 16 of 29 passes for 331 yards, said the running game was a large part of the Jets' success through the air.

"It was a bunch. I think we had a balanced effort," the QB said. "It was particularly impressive the way Bilal (Powell) ran and the way the offensive line continued to open holes for him. Once we get Chris back to full strength and get other guys involved, I think this running game is really going to help us out. It's fun to see those guys run like that and it definitely helps me out and eases some pressure."

    RED FLAG

Lucky for Ryan, the Jets escaped with a win against the Bills on Sunday. Had they lost, the coach would have come under scrutiny for mismanaging the team's challenges.

Ryan first challenged a spot on a third and 1 run that saw Powell come up short of a first down late in the third quarter. Ja'Wuan James Jersey On the Bills' next possession, Ryan failed on his second attempt, challenging a Stevie Johnson catch.

    Simmons, Howard/New York Daily News

Rex Ryan gets a little challenge happy Sunday, burning both of his challenges early on.

The two failed challenges proved costly when Buffalo QB EJ Manuel appeared to fumble with 13:16 left in the game. Manuel was ruled down on the play, but Ryan was out of challenges. The Bills capped the drive with a TD and two point conversion to tie it at 20.

"Obviously, I'm not going to challenge it if I didn't think it," Ryan said of challenging the spot on Powell's run. "I really felt we had a chance to get that first down, to look at it. And then the other deal was the clock was down under 10 seconds and I was going to use a timeout anyway . so it's like, 'Okay, I have two challenges left,' and I thought we made (it). In my line (of sight), I thought we made the first down." . DL Muhammad Wilkerson picked up two sacks against the Bills, even though he hasn't fully recovered from a sprained ankle. "I wouldn't say it's 100%," Wilkerson said on WFAN Tuesday.

    X's AND O's

Defensive end Quinton Coples played 57 snaps in his first game back from surgery for a hairline fracture in his ankle. With Coples back, the line rotation should keep players fresher.
